This is a large, oval-shaped, blue glass bead with wavy red and white compound stripes. This bead is closest to type IIbb27 in the system derived by Kenneth and Martha Kidd, which is often used by archaeologists to classify beads. This is a drawn bead-- drawn glass beads are made by pulling, or "drawing," molten glass into long hollow tubes. The tubes are then cut into pieces and then either remain as tubular beads or have their edges rounded, such as this one. Dusti Bridges, Archaeologist
