This image shows a line of fire-altered rocks that had been intentionally placed at the bottom of a large outdoor firepit (Feature 6) at the White Springs site. The iron object projecting out from the right side of the line of rocks likely is a piece of an iron kettle bail refashioned to act as a poker or spit. The line of rocks was found very close to the base of the firepit. Kurt Jordan, Archaeologist
