- This picture shows the general setting around the location of the short longhouse (Structure 1) at the Townley-Read site. The dirt mounds in the middle of the image are soil temporarily removed from the house area during excavation. The picture shows how the house was close to water (at the tree-line) and that the low-lying setting did not seem to have been chosen with defense in mind.
