This poster map of Central America is an attack against U.S. “Aggression.” It shows an American eagle whose talons have drawn blood throughout the region, particularly in Honduras where it is perched. Skulls in Guatemala and El Salvador - and two in Nicaragua - suggest the deaths caused by U.S. interference. The title appears in six languages: Spanish, English, French, Portuguese, Italian, and what appears to be a regional dialect.
The map was published by the Honduran ”Mothers for Peace 'Visitación Padilla,'" an organization formed in 1984 and named after an honored Honduran feminist crusader who died in 1960.
Although the map is undated, the two skulls in Nicaragua suggest that it was produced sometime shortly after November 1986, when the clandestine U.S. aid to the anti-Sandinista (Contra) forces in that country was publicly revealed.
