- This pamphlet, published in Paris during the German occupation, offers support for Hitler and National Socialism in the guise of an attack on “Stalinist Communism.” The cover is a map of France in flames, overlaid with an ominous image of Stalin. The pamphlet begins with a lengthy attack on Stalinist (Soviet) communism as a “pathogen,” a “virus,” guilty in the late 1930s of “infecting the foundations of French institutions . . . and disrupting the frameworks of traditional socialism,” and therefore contributing importantly to the “collapse of the Nation, the shame of a defeat without historical precedent.” pp. 3-4.
In the same vein, much of the text details various ways in which Soviet communism had undermined French socialism. As the exposition continues, however, the message becomes more clear. Stalinist communists had acted so that French workers would not “realize the great national-socialist accomplishments!” The French “proletarian” was kept in “ignorance” and led to believe “that his German brother had nothing to eat [and] suffered the worst tortures,” when in fact “National Socialism, as it was practiced in the New Germany, was quite the opposite of Judeo-Russian Marxism. . . . The proof of this is the trust which the German people have unanimously granted to Hitler since 1933, at each plebiscite.” p. 23.
Near the end of the pamphlet, the attack broadens to include “Anglo-Saxon capitalism,” the “Banks and the gun runners,” “English or American trusts” and “London capitalism.” All of these forces share a “desperate hatred . . . of National Socialism, for British Capitalism and the Bolshevik demagogue know that true socialism is the work of Hitler and that he will inevitably gain Europe.” The German “men of the heart” and their supporters “have resolved to prevent the interests of London Jews or Moscow executioners.” pp. 28-29.
I have been unable to find any information about the author, G. Sudeine; it may be a pseudonym. This is one of at least three such pro-German works published by Dompol during the period 1941-1943; this one has been dated variously to 1941 or 1942.
