- Henry Monsky, head of B'nai B'rith and the American Jewish Conference, writes Rubin Saltzman that although the Leo N. Levi Hospital is sponsored by the B'nai B'rith and named after a former B'nai B'rith director, it is an independent entity, and that he has no input into their admitting decisions. From a large bundle of letters originally filed together that include a direct request to Henry Monsky (B'nai B'rith, American Jewish Conference) to help JPFO member Alexander Rubin obtain admission to B'nai B'rith's Leo N. Levi Memorial Hospital.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
