- Translated Summary: Circular sent to all Women's Clubs of the Bronx associated with the Jewish City Committee. Request that each Club come to the office [1351 Boston Road, Bronx, New York] to pick up copies of the Bulletin for their club. Announces an evening at Academy Hall, 853 Broadway [and 14th Street; Manhattan], at which all the women's clubs will bring in scrapbooks for a cultural competition.
- Notes:
- Documents organizational antecedents to the Emma Lazarus Division, founded in 1944 by the Women's Division of the Jewish People's Fraternal Order of the International Workers Order (IWO). The Division eventually became the Emma Lazarus Federation of Jewish Women's Clubs (ELF)
The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
