World Jewish Congress - Description:
- Calls on the American Jewish Congress and the World Jewish Congress to advocate for the U.S. to oppose the "Bernadotte Plan" regarding the partition of Palestine following the war in 1948. Also demands an end to the [arms] embargo of Israel, full recognition for the state, and freedom of immigration for displaced persons. November 11, 1947 is to be a day of protest for the "mobilization of support to Israel and Jewry throughout the world." Criticizes the World Jewish Congress's stance on the Bernadotte Plan. Dated at the bottom of page 2.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
