Poland, Political - Description:
- 15 plus pages. In pen, with some penciled Yiddish additions. The speech leaves the branch name out, with a blank underline to insert as appropriate, and so was likely delivered at more than one event. Translated Summary: Text mentions that the Ordn is 15 years old this month. One theme appears to be inclusiveness and Jewish unity. Membership has grown to 50,000 over those 15 years, showing that the Ordn and its program have been embraced by American Jews with differing beliefs. There were no "political passports" among the resistance in the Warsaw Ghetto. Other themes include the shuln, the youth who will be the promise of continuity, and the heavy responsibility in the wake of the war. The top of page 10 has the English word "Out", next to the words, "We stand at the threshold of a new Pesach. We stand at a new Exodus..." Ends exultantly. "The hour of victory is coming (p. 13)," and, "This Pesach will be the true promise of a new and bright life."
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
