IWO JPFO Organizational History
Communist Party, USA - Description:
- 2 pages. Undated pencilled notes taken on a calendar page for June 23, 1948. Notes relate to various cases including Zola's and Checkov's defense of Dreyfus. Milgrom, Simonoff, Dmytryshyn appear to have been Ordn members threatened with deportation as denaturalized immigrants. Lists Jewish JPFO officers and their dependents, then notes Rose Nelson, mother ELF, P.R.-? Ital-. Possibly related to similar notes taken on a calendar page from July 7th.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
