- Translated Summary: Received letter of April 23, and happy to hear of the level attained by your community. I (Rubin Saltzman) will try to have portions of your letter printed either in our journal or in the Morgn Freiheit (Frayhayt). It goes without saying that I will bring up your request for more help at the appropriate time, and aim to secure the maximum help possible. Greetings to Pawel Zelicki (Zelitsky, Zelitski), Jaribanik Zachariasz, Joel Lazebnik and the others. Bitter was one of the heads of the Central Committee of Jews in Poland (CKŻP, Centralny Komitet Żydów w Polsce).
- Notes:
- The material from Poland shows post-war conditions and JPFO fund raising and relief efforts.
The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
