Emigration - Description:
- Translated Summary: Typed 2-page receipt form Jacob Egit acknowledging donations from Rubin Saltzman, in zlotys, to Jewish institutions in Lower Silesia. Categories include Children's Homes, "Productivization" (for cooperatives and factories), and two items in neither category: a printing coop and an automobile. Egit's title accompanying his signature on other correspondence with the same date is "Chairman of the Regional Committee of Jews of Lower Silesia". Jakub Egit was later arrested.
- Notes:
- Subsequent correspondence from Egit is from the Wroclaver Yidishe Komitetet
The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
