Zionism - Description:
- Translated Summary. Very sorry could not answer the letter of September 23, but was out of the city the whole time. Complains of intransigence of Zionists who, although they [e.g., in the American Jewish Congress] have passed resolutions calling for the opening of America's gates to those still in DP camps, have made it clear they will do nothing to actually carry it out. Will inform him about the donation they discussed earlier, after the executive committee's meeting, that week.
- Notes:
- Rayski is one of the founders in 1944 of CRIF (Conseil représentatif des institutions juives de France) and of the earlier Comité général de défense juive
The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
