- Note written in Yiddish says, "Naye Prese 25/IV" [the Paris Yiddish Communist newspaper]. Photo caption reads: "Chagall, Novick, Saltzman visit Andrésy." The article describes a campaign to raise 3 million francs for the "Union" for a children's summer camp at the site of the Andrésy orphanage with 500,000 francs raised to date as part of the first million. See related interview with Rubin Saltzman published the same day.
- Notes:
- des juifs pour la résistance et l'entraide was part of the French resistence.
The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
