Emma Lazarus Division - Description:
- Stamped as received on July 13, 1946. Translated Summary: Have sent out 62 photos to the Emma Lazarus Division [for support of orphanage in Andrésy]. Tomorrow will send out 10 more, with biographies, and the rest in a few more days. Requests help with a transfer of money from Rio de Janeiro to New York, where a representative from France can receive it on their behalf. Gives the address of their friend B. Feder in Rio de Janeiro. Requests they instruct him as to which bank in Brazil he should deposit the money so it can be transfered to New York.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
