Postwar Order and Social Contract - Description:
- Announcement of establishment of a "kase", a treasury or credit union for interest-free loans for post-War "reconstruction help" due to the generosity of Albert Yudin. Handwritten note bottom left reads, "Used in the 'Tribune', Wednesday, August 31st." and signed R. Youkelson. Stamp indicates that the office of the Union des Societes Juives de France has been transferred to 14 Rue de Paradis, 10eme from 120 Vielle du Temple 3eme.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
