- Title, "$1,000,000 for Relief and Reconstruction of Jewish Life in All Lands." A beautifully printed brochure that includes a reprint of the formal registration with the "President's War Relief Control Board" issued on February, 1943. The cover graphic shows gaunt skeletal figures standing in front of a burinng inferno and the Yiddish directly references the destruction and rebuilding of post-War Jewish life. Recipients are specified as: the Soviet Union, through the Jewish Council on Russian War Relief; Palestine through Hadassah and Red Mogen Dovid; Poland through the American Federation of Polish Jews; Relief to Jews in Hungary, France, Romania and elsewhere; UJA (United Jewish Appeal); and Servicemen's Welfare Fund. Date on the back cover, bottom left.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
