- In Yiddish. 4 Pages. H & D in pencil indicates it was for the educational journal Heym un Derziung [Haym un Dertsiung]. Translated Summary: Education in schools, colleges, or universities across national groups can promote tolerance and decrease prejudice. Describes hypothetical project exposing a mixed class with African American students matching their proportion of the general population (10%) being taught a curriculum that includes the conditions under which they were brought to America, the history of slavery, poverty, and current living conditions relative to white Americans. The same method might be used for other minority groups as well, including Mexican Americans, the major European nationalities, etc. And, naturally, Jews would be treated equivalently. At the elementary school level, calls on the Ordn schools to be leaders in putting this kind of endeavor into effect. Itche Goldberg and Rubin Saltzman are listed as editors of Heym un Derziung; Goldberg was the main literary editor.

The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
