Women organizing - Description:
- By-Laws of the American Jewish Congress Adopted at Biennial Convention on May 29-June 2, 1946 in New York City. This document mentions dues structure and the Women's Division. See the revised constitution from the convention for organizational goals such as advocacy "to secure, further and safeguard the civil, political, economic and religious rights of Jews everywhere" and to "foster and safeguard democratic way of life in the United States." The Women's Division is established under the supervision of the Executive Committee at the Conference as per the constitution.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
