- Letter from Jesse B. Calmenson, Adminstrative Secretary, to Reuben Saltzman of the Jewish-American Section, I.W.O. responding to Mr. Saltzman's attacks against Louis Lipsky, chairman of the American Jewish Conference's National Board of Elections. Calmenson notes that Rabbi Stephen S. Wise has already responded so as to show his "personal resentment" in regard to the accusations and that Henry Monsky is doing so.
- Notes:
- This document pertains to the nine month campaign waged by the Jewish-American Section, I.W.O. to be admitted to the Conference as a Jewish national organization.
The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
