Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee of the USSR (JAFC) - Description:
- Translated Summary: Singer describes being inspired by reports in the papers, listing the names of shloglers, raising money for the tanks. Organized an appeal and raised over $100. Be so good as to mention him in the Ordn's Tribune. Lists other comrades who helped, his branch, etc. A 'shlogler' is an unusually diligent and productive worker who is held up as a model to others. Handwritten on letterhead from Singer & Singer Hardware in Brownsville, Brooklyn
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
