- Translated Summary: Letter by Nochem Weisman (Nachum Vaysman) appears to have accompanied the verse "I Am An American." Thanks Youkelson for giving such a fine placement to his poem about July 4th. He is now enclosing "a very useful poem", "tsum Shabes." The letter is sent from Camp Kinderland.
- Notes:
- Shabes is spelled phonetically rather than in the traditional Hebrew spelling. The expression appears to be similar to an expression [farvos? far Shabes] that means "don't ask why", or just for the heck of it."
The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
