Postwar Order and Social Contract - Description:
- 2 pages. Pen-written outline, probably by Richard J. Neumann, detailing the purpose and requirements for a "Discovering Music" Series. Goals include stimulating participation in musical groups, to "show the close connections between musical and other connections of a people," and to "educate the audience about development and outlook of Jewish music." Intent is to found a group of singers and/or performers of Jewish music. Richard J. Neumann was a noted conductor and composer who was then working for the Educational Alliance.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
