Black Jewish Relations- Civil Rights, African Americans - Description:
- 3 pages. Explains that the Bulletin is an outcome of the Seventh National Convention, and that it will be bi-monthly with an English and Yiddish edition. Contents include a Calendar of Activities for 1947-1948 that lists programs on Birobidzhan, Jewish Schools, Purim, the Warsaw Ghetto, Jewish History Month, Negro History Week, IWO JPFO Organizational History, writers I.L. Peretz and Mendele Moicher Sforim, Women's Day, and May Day. Strongly promotes subscribing to Jewish Life (Jewish Currents) published by the Morning (Morgn) Freiheit Association, as well as obtaining songbooks from People's Songs.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
