Description:
In Yiddish. 4 pages. Penciled note: "Leon Malamud on Tour" Recounts his travels and talks. In Detroit after, at night, they had a "Khaverishe, yatishe liamke" (a comradely, bourgeois little soiree). Descriptions of Akron, Cleveland, Chicago, Milwaukee (where they had to part with their driver), and now writing from Minneapolis, leaving today for St. Paul. Attendance in the smaller towns is low, from 80-100 to 150, and financially, the we might take 1200 in tickets. Hotels and monies due. Plan to move on from St. Paul to St. Louis.
Notes:
The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
