Intelligentsia - Description:
- In Yiddish. On Hotel Roosevelt letterhead from Unger, who was running the Committee of Jewish Artists, Writers and Scientists. Translated Summary: Writes about organizing factions of the left in Mexico. Working with the leftist Zionists. Calls the Poale Zionists "ours". Describes his activities, giving talks, organizing, and fundraising. Describes fundraising opportunities, but has not heard from the Writer's Committee. If their plan does not work, has other suggestions for possible sources of, and recipients for, funds. To that end, asks for information about their work with children in Tel-Aviv, for issues of the newspaper "Free Israel", for material about the Ordn's children's homes in France, and about the possibility of sending a copy of the film "Mir Zaynen Do." Finally, he asks Saltzman, "What do you say about Truman's victory?" and inquires about the publication of his (Unger's) brochure about Israel.

The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
