- Letter from Nora Zhitlowsky to Rubin Saltzman. Describes trying to contact him since she wants him to follow up with IKUF secretary Zishe Weinper in regard to money for her. She also writes of something that a friend apparently overheard: "A few weeks ago some Yiddishists were sitting in the Cafe Royal and among other things discussing Zhitlowsky. One of the men asked "By the way, what happened to his widow?" upon which one of the Leftists said "Oh, we take care of her."....I am writing this to you because I really like to know if Chaim's followers think that his widow is being taken care of by them. Please let me know what I can expect from the IKUF and when.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
