Women [Women's clubs, organizing] - Description:
- Nora Zhitlowsky Speaking Tour. Translated Summary: Letter describing speaking events in the U.S. and Canada where she gave lectures on "Women between the 2 World Wars" and on "Zhitlowsky and the Soviet Union." Some events were held by Women's Clubs; she also teamed up with writer A. Maymudes at some events. She asks for Saltzman's help in obtaining Chaim's "surplus check" from Morris Weinberg and B.Z. Goldberg as well as obtaining some articles written by her late husband that were not published by the Peretz [Writer's Union] Verein. She mentions that her son was discharged from the Army due to lung complications (T.B.) and may need to be in a sanitorium.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
