Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee of the USSR (JAFC)- Solomon (Shloyme) Mikhoels - Description:
- Appeal to Jewish honor during battle of Stalingrad and much more. "Jewish AntiFascist Committee USSR calls upon Jews... to widen their activities aid heroic Red Army everywise way para brothers and sisters exclamation otherwise safeguard life honor and freedom our people orderwise safeguard age old culture namewise our great past and bright future none..." Mikhoels invokes effort of Battle of Stalingrad, sacrifices of Red Army and of Russian people, heroism of Soviet Jewry and Maccabees, to enjoin in the strongest of terms Jews outside of the Soviet Union to contribute to the Soviet war effort for the sake of their honor, history and future. Idiosyncratic grammar and spelling.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
