Bilingualism - Description:
- Bilingual 4 page flier/newspaper insert, used for fundraising. Includes a Sept 12, 1942 letter from Soviet Ambassador Maxim Litvinoff, assuring the Order and its contributors that their fundraising efforts specifically for tanks have the full approval of the Soviet government. The campaign was initially started in response to the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee's (JAFC), Moscow radio appeal of May 24, 1942 requesting tanks. The Order's campaign was then re-couched so as to allow medical supplies to be bought as long as tanks that are otherwise obtained get named with the Order's name and names of Jewish heros, e.g., Bar Kochba. Issued by the IWO Front Line Fighters Fund, with the Ordn's address.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
