- 2 pages. Translated Summary: Attendees: Kelner, Saltzman, Sandler, Doroshkin, Mann, Greene, Pevzner, Goldman, Schechter, Youkelson, Grossfeld. Report by Sandler on visit to Philadelphia, Detroit, Cleveland and Boston, and successful membership drive for the Order's 15th Anniversary. Saltzman reports that the JPFO will be funded for a magazine of its own; the question is whether it is to be net new or result from merging with Einikeit the journal of the Jewish Committee of Writers and Artists [B.Z. Goldberg editor]. Proposes aid distribution of $200,000 fund: $10,000 to American Federation of Polish Jews; $10,000 to the United Jewish Appeal (UJA), $50,000 to Hadassah; $100,000 to Saratov Project through the Jewish Council for Russian War Relief. $15,000 for IWO Servicemen's Welfare Fund. Also reports that Slovès, Henri (Chaim) from YKUF indicates dire need among returning families in Paris. Among other activities, the theater troupe will do a [Purim] play called "Haman's Defeat" in mid-February.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
