Politics & Government - Measurement:
- 23 x 28 (centimeters, height x width)
- Notes:
- A map of the Empire in a booklet intended to rally the Conservative forces for the 1929 general election. Below the map is an advertisement for Dale's Beer. The booklet contains a rousing plea for support from Richard G. Briscoe, MP from Cambridgeshire: "If a Socialist Government be returned of power in 1929, England will be faced with a period of risky experimentation, of disastrous taxation, and of further upheaval, which can only result in the loss of the confidence of her foreign and imperial customers." The map is bordered with statistics about the size and scope of the Empire, supporting two political themes: "Everywhere Room for Expansion" and "The Solution of Unemployment Lies in Empire Development." The map contains photos of King George V ("In Whom We All Unite") and Edward, the Prince of Wales ("In Whom We All Delight"). The latter sentiment is ironic: the British certainly did not "all delight" in Edward's subsequent abdication and later life as the Duke of Windsor.
