- This pictorial map of Africa is focused less on the geography of the inset map than on "the colorful assemblage of animals, birds and reptiles inhabiting the mysterious continent," along with the "exciting native tribes, living in the dense jungles as they have for centuries." Philip Hershkovitz, Curator of Mammals at the Chicago Natural History Museum, is given equal credit with the "illustrator," Robert Glaubke. The most prominent set of legends, at the bottom of the map, provides descriptions of the (numbered) animals, from Aardvark to Zebra.
