- Notes:
- A large, striking promotional poster aimed at increasing Austrian tourism in the years immediately after World War II. Austria, like Germany, was jointly occupied by the American, British, French and Soviet forces; the occupation continued until 1955, three years after the publication of this poster. During this period, Austria received extensive humanitarian and Marshall Plan aid, and the effort to attract tourists was likely part of the nation's economic and political recovery.
The collection includes three European posters issued in the period shortly after World War II as part of efforts to rebuild tourism. ID #2034, France (1947); ID #2107, Austria (1952); ID #2250, Hamburg (Germany) Tour Map (1947).
