- Notes:
- This leaflet was dropped on German soldiers by the Allies in about December 1943. The map shows Allied bombers attacking Germany in overlapping arcs from bases in England and the south of Italy. The text reads in part "German factories, power stations, railway stations, blast furnaces, the entire economic apparatus for providing German soldiers with arms, and for providing them with jobs and work after the war, is being crushed from the south and the west. What are you still defending? While German soldiers are on the ground in Italy, the squadrons of the Allied air forces are flying across the skies to smash the German war machine behind them."
The text verso (ID #2099.02) asks, "Time to Win What?" Despite the slow fighting of German forces on multiple fronts, "German soldiers are ordered to continue fighting - 'to win time' say their officers. To gain time, why?" The text describes the cascade of devastation occurring "Every Day the War Continues," and concludes: "German soldiers, you are fighting for your future - for the growth of chaos and misery in your country, now and after the war."
