Advertising & Promotion
Pictorial - Measurement:
- 26 x 35 page (centimeters, height x width)
- Notes:
- This 1942 advertisement by 94 American electric power companies promotes "the greatest electrical transmission system in the world," emphasizing that "It's all yours - and no Jap or Nazi has anything like it!" The details are intentionally blurred and overprinted "CENSORED," with a note that "We're glad to cooperate in concealing information that might aid the enemy" (alluding to possible sabotage). The text lauds the products of American creative freedom, contrasted with "the Jap and German systems of political management and state slavery."
During World War II, many companies produced patriotic institutional advertisements aimed at aligning themselves with the war effort and enhancing morale. For another example, see ID #1319, Lockheed Aircraft Corporation.
