- Notes:
- This map appeared in an article in Fortune Magazine about The Texas Corporation (Texaco, now a subsidiary of Chevron). While not a company advertisement, the article promotes the company's pervasive activities throughout the country, and the map communicates that message. Oil producing states are highlighted, with red and white lines for oil pipelines of the company and other firms. Pictorial elements show the Texas Corporations major oil fields (in blue), refineries (in red), ocean terminals, and other facilities, with data throughout. The table at the lower right lists the company's oil production and refining capacity by region, in barrels per day and percent of the national total.
At the time this story appeared, Texaco had become the first company to sell its gasoline nationwide under a single brand name.
