These two maps highlight a series of promotional materials (ID ##1227.01-.03) for properties developed by Winkler-Yates Oil Royalties and its principal, Leo F. Reardon. Among the claims in these materials: "Thundering Flood of Yates Oil Shatters All Records in Annals of Oil!" "Where in Oildom Is There a Finer Royalty Spread Than This?" Two years later, in Fort Worth federal court, Leo Reardon was convicted of fraud in connection with these ventures and sentenced to Leavenworth. Corsicana [Texas] Daily Sun, December 13, 1930. Pending appeal, he became a fugitive from justice and was eventually arrested in New Orleans. Palm Beach News, January 5, 1932.
