Ethnocentrism - Measurement:

- Notes:
- For more than a century, persuasive cartographers seeking to enhance the relative significance of their countries have imposed the outlines of one or more other nations on a map of their own. For other examples in the collection, Search > "relative size".
This map overlays the map of Australia with that of the European continent, illustrating dramatically the nation's vast relative size (almost double that of Europe). (Note that in this case, as in some of the other comparisons in the collection, all or part of Russia is excluded from the definition of "Europe.")
A.C. Macdonald was an Australian geographer. He was a fellow of the Royal Geographic Society in London and played a major role in the founding and development of the Royal Geographic Society of Australasia.
