- Notes:
- A crate-label map promoting the "C.K.S. Grape Belt," an agricultural area of upstate New York located between Canadaigua Lake, Keuka Lake and Seneca Lake (just west of Cornell). The map is oriented with east at the top, so the label would align horizontally with the boxes of grapes. Date is estimated.
Crate labels of this kind were first employed in about 1880 to identify brands and make them stand out in public produce markets. Because of the volume of sales, the labels were reprinted in large runs from time to time, and unused labels like this one became collector's items. For another interesting cartographic crate label, see ID #2523 (1917).
