Jewish Left - Description:
- Two newspaper clippings. The first has large photos of Rubin Saltzman and Abraham Straus [?], with the caption: "Honor their memory!", followed by a poem by Yakov Leyzerovitsh, titled "Hold Fast the Rudder" (from his literary heritage/estate). Flip side contains portions of a biographical article. The second clipping is a fragment and includes the words 'Rubin Saltzman, on his 5th yortsayt", which would place it as from 1964.
- Notes:
- Clipping is undated. Date taken from the poem.
The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
