- Saltzman has just returned from Poland: the outline is for a lecture on the future of Poland's Jewish community, especially on options for dealing with the "panic emigration" that ensued after the Kielce pogrom in July. Translated Summary: Outline begins with conveying Polish Government Minister Dr. Adolph Berman's statement as Opening Remarks. Saltzman's defense of Polish government stance and criticism of the "Joint" for not properly aiding repatriated Polish Jews. Saltzman outlines that Dr. Berman and Vzosh (sic?) made four points in discussion: "1) Yetsius (exiting) Europe and Poland is a calamity for the Jewish people; 2) Additional help [needed] to the Polish Jews; 3) Open the doors to all lands for the Jews from displaced [persons] camps; 4) There will remain a Jewish community in Poland."
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
