Commemoration - Description:
- JPFO invitation for "The Jew in Poland: An Exhibit. From Ruins to a New Life" from Albert E. Kahn, president and Rubin Saltzman, general secretary. Exhibit is from materials from the Jewish Historical Institute of the Central Committee of Jews in Poland (CKŻP, Centralny Komitet Żydów w Polsce). Includes maquette, photographs, photocopies, a ghetto-nelm[?] from Lodz, armbands with Jewish star. Intent as per a previous letter "Will help inform the wider American public of the crimes of Hitlerism, and the resistance of Polish Jewry."
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
