Postwar Order and Social Contract - Description:
- Translated Summary: Acknowledges telegram of January 16, 1947 informing of the receipt of money. Requests an official receipt. Reminds of plans to send 3000 "sweaters". Urges that child and youth homes in Lower Silesia get first priority, and that the “new Jewish community of Lower Silesia" gets at least half of all donations, whether money or clothing. Urges frequent communication.
- Notes:
- The material from Poland shows post-war conditions and JPFO fund raising and relief efforts.
The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
