Letter from Progressive Woman Organisation (Israel) to the "Women's Organization Emma Lazarus Chavertas." Translated Summary: We met your comrade Shurek[?]. She toured our kindergarten and can tell you specifically about the condition of our institutions. She also took part in our meetings and can tell you about our plans for the summer camps [colonies] for our children and the evening classes for older workers' children. She also saw something of our meetings for women and our political actions. Your organization's help has a large share in enabling our institutions and activities, and helping us serve the women of the poorest strata of workers, and their children. The needs are many in our young country, we rely on getting more help from our friends abroad. Please help further strengthen our bond and enable more actions and undertakings in your name...

The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans. Documents include language and representations which comprise the historical record and should not be interpreted to mean that Cornell University or its staff endorse or approve of negative representations or stereotypes presented.
