Membership - Description:
- The top of the letter with date, along with any letterhead or return address, has been cut off. Translated Summary: Received letter that the Executive board has voted to sign up for an organizational membership in YIVO, in the amount of $100 per year. Grateful also for their offer of help. Will undoubtedly take them up on it. Cannot agree to the requirement that a member of the Ordn be appointed among the directorate. The directors of YIVO's American branch are appointed at their yearly conference, attended by their members and delegates from their member organizations. At their next yearly YIVO conference, his organization will be invited to send delegates and will have the same rights as all other member organizations.
- Notes:
- The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
