- In Yiddish. 11 pages. Corrected draft. Date on page one is November 16, 1949. Date at end of the document is November 4th. Possibly written on the 4th for publication or presentation 12 days later. Translated Summary: Appeal of the decision of the National Administrative Committee to expel the Ordn from the American Jewish Congress. Reviews the original purpose of the Congress and its importance during the War. Decries the new leadership (as elitist, cut off from the membership, reactionary, etc.) in contrast to Rabbi Weiss.
- Notes:
- A pamphlet is published in English by the JPFO on November 4, 1949 that outlines the grounds for the appeal.
The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
