- Receipt for $2,000 check to the City Terrace Cultural Center in Los Angeles from the JPFO "as a gift for our cultural activities." The local L.A. Eastside JPFO branch met at the City Terrace Cultural Center which was eventually expelled from the LA Jewish Community Council as a result of the escalating "Red Scare."
- Notes:
- The campaign to expel the JPFO from the LA Jewish Community Council started in 1949, lasted 4 years and also involved the Workmen’s Circle [Arbiter Ring].
The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
