Fraternal Orders- Lodges, Activities - Description:
- In Yiddish. The reinsurance plan. Translated Summary: Notes on a reinsurance plan. This appears to be an attempt to make sure that members get something if the Ordn's assets are seized. There are questions raised including why one million dollars is being charged for 'expenses' and one point six million for 'bad risks', and why only one option has been presented to date, when the Appeals court spoke of three possible plans. Another issue raised concerns tangible and less tangible services that members have paid for, in addition to insurance.
- Notes:
- The campaign ensued once the IWO was put on the Attorney General's Subversive Organizations List in November 1947; the list (aka the Red List) was published in March 1948.
The Jewish People’s Fraternal Order was the largest ‘national’ section of the International Workers Order (IWO) which focused on cultural awareness and celebration, mutual support especially in health insurance coverage, and anti-fascist activities. The IWO also gave particular emphasis to supporting the rights and interests of African Americans.
