- Description:
- This is a cast of a Roman-era bronze statuette of Apollo housed in the British Museum. The figure is nude and stands placing his weight on his right leg, with his body posed in an exaggerated Praxitelean-style s-curve (see ID nos. 134 and 179, casts of Praxiteles' Apollo Sauroktonos and Resting Satyr for examples of this form). He wears a large wreath or diadem in his hair and wavy locks fall onto his chest. His head is tilted to his left. The left arm of this cast is broken away above the elbow and both feet are damaged. It is painted to imitate patinated bronze. This cast is likely included in the Sage catalog but its original number is unclear.
